Meet Lara

Acupuncturist & Herbalist (BHSc)

Lara (she/her) is an AHPRA registered Chinese Medicine practitioner providing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, massage and dietary therapy. She has studied in China, interned in Taiwan and worked in Nepal.

Lara advocates for an integrated model of care and maintains clear communication regarding treatment plans to ensure the best outcomes. She has a gentle and supportive approach to treatments and always aims to provide a safe space for patients to feel heard and understood.

Pelvic pain

For the past four years and ongoing, Lara has worked at Elgin House Women’s Health Specialists alongside endometriosis specialist gynaecologist, Dr Clare Myers. It is here that she has deepened her practice, experience and passion for supporting those with pelvic pain. Lara works with a variety of pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis, adenomyosis, vulvodynia, vaginismus, undiagnosed pelvic pain and pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy.

Pregnancy

Lara has completed further postgraduate training in perinatal care. She is a senior member of the Obstetric Acupuncture Association, which holds acupuncturists to the highest standards of education and experience in perinatal care and birthwork. Often overlooked as a treatment option, acupuncture can be supportive throughout each trimester. Most commonly, Lara works with nausea, vomiting, back pain, pelvic girdle pain, headaches, fatigue, malpositioning and labour preparation. Lara always works in collaboration with your primary care provider, whether that be your public or private midwife, general practitioner or obstetrician.

Hormonal & reproductive health

Lara brings a holistic perspective and treatment to hormonal and reproductive health. She has further postgraduate training in herbal medicine for gynaecology and obstetrics. In clinic she regularly supports those with heavy bleeding, prolonged bleeding, PMDD, PCOS, PCO, fertility and IVF/ART support. So whether you’re undergoing IVF, need more support managing your PMDD or wanting the additional benefits of acupuncture in your fertility journey, Lara is here for you.

Trauma informed care

Central to Lara’s practice is ensuring you feel safe, supported and heard. This is put into practice over the years with her previous experience working at Foundation House with survivors of torture and trauma from refugee background. Lara firmly believes that every person has a unique experience to their health and will always advocate for you to feel in control of your health and wellbeing.
